Update: Plans for October Classes

We get started 3 weeks from today, with Aspen Golann leading an “Intro to Carving” class.  And with that, Aspen’s class will officially open our doors as The Woodworking School at Pine Croft.  Megan Fitzpatrick’s class follows and then I finish this cluster of classes with two of my own.  The first of many more sessions to come.

Pine Croft, and Berea College at large, has trekked a cautious path over the last year and a half.  It’s with that emphasis that we put together our plan for the fall classes.  I’ve added the main points below, along with the basic daily schedule.

  • Covid related: Please provide your vaccination card (either email a picture to me or show me during the first morning) and we will mask during our time in the shop.  Provided we have good weather, we’ll open the doors and windows and run our ceiling fans.
  • We provide lunch, which we’ll eat outside under the shed roof attached to the shop.  It’ll give us cover from the weather and a little time to meet one another away from the benches.
  • I will clean the bathrooms and wipe down the touch points each evening.
  • Daily Schedule:  Our class instruction will run 9-5, with a break for lunch around noon.  I will open the shop a little earlier (7:30) and keep it open until about 5:30 each afternoon.

Three more weeks.  There is still a spot or two open in each of the four classes (as of Friday morning, 9/16).  We hope you can join us.
