Fall Session, 2022

We’ll have four class offerings this fall, running the first couple of weeks in November and a Saturday class in early December (which may not technically be autumn, but it’s close enough that we’re counting it).  We have a variety of offerings this fall, from green woodworking to contemporary cabinet making, a woodworking basics course and a single day carving class. We hope we have something for everyone.

Our schedule:

  • Green Wood Stool Making with Terry Ratliff.  November 5 & 6.  Terry’s been making chairs in Eastern Kentucky for four decades.  He’s share his knowledge over two days of stool making.  Students will use the drawknife and shave horse to make a small stool and weave in hickory bark on the second day.
  • Introduction to Woodworking with Andy Glenn.  November 7-12.  This class is intended for anyone interested in woodworking and looking for a place to start, as well as an experienced beginner ready to improve their skills.  We’ll cover the key points of benchwork, hand tools, machinery, and turning.  The class culminates with a handcut dovetailed box.
  • Kentucky Spirits Cabinet with Rob Spiece.  November 14-19.  Rob leads a contemporary casework class that will utilize the machine room along with hand details at the workbench.  Students will make a beautiful wall cabinet ready to hold Ale 8 or bourbon.
  • Sloyd Carving with Joshua Wetherington.  December 3rd.  Joshua’s an experienced carver from Madison County, Kentucky.  You may have cross paths with him at Central Kentucky craft fairs and art shows.  Joshua will lead a group through the carving of a small bird using a Sloyd knife and a couple gouges.  Open to any skill level and those interested in carving.

Class prices include materials and lunch.
